greenBOX Unboxed i12: Duct System Cleaning Mode
Ecogate greenBOX's Duct System Cleaning Mode
The greenBOX Duct System Cleaning Mode is designed to keep your duct system clear of debris and running smoothly. By opening all gates and running the fan at full speed at regular intervals or before system shutdown, this feature helps ensure optimal airflow throughout your system. Users can easily configure settings such as cleaning intervals, duration, and fan speed, and can even maximize efficiency by using options like 'Clean by Zone' and the 'Open Only with Sensor' function. In this guide, we'll walk you through how to set up and make the most of the Cleaning Mode.
Duct System Cleaning Mode Tutorial
Why Use Cleaning Mode?
To ensure your duct system remains clear and free of accumulated material (like sawdust in a woodworking shop), greenBOX includes a Cleaning Mode. Think of it as an extra layer of protection. While greenBOX prioritizes maintaining minimum transport air velocity to prevent material buildup, it's possible to underestimate the required airflow or the complexity of your duct system (e.g., elevation changes or frequent elbows).
Pro Tip: During the initial days of system operation, inspect your main duct daily to verify the minimum transport air velocity is set correctly. Also, enable and configure the duct system Cleaning Mode for best results.
To set Cleaning select "Regularly" from the listbox, Enable "Cleaning Run At Stop" (recommended), set Cleaning Interval, Cleaning Duration, and Cleaning Minimum Run Duration.
Configuring Cleaning Mode Settings
Setting up the Cleaning Mode in your greenBOX system ensures that your ducts stay clean and efficient. Below, we'll guide you step-by-step to configure the settings for optimal performance.
1. Access Cleaning Settings
To begin, open the greenBOX interface. Click on your system name under "Systems Overview" on the left side, or use the pencil icon on the dashboard to access system settings. Scroll down to "04. Cleaning" on the system edit screen to access the Cleaning Mode options.
2. Cleaning Mode
Select "Regularly" to initiate cleaning intervals after the system starts. This ensures that your ducts are kept clear with minimal manual intervention.
3. Enable Cleaning Run at Stop
We highly recommend enabling this feature. By doing so, the system will run a cleaning cycle before shutting down, which keeps the ducts clear when they are not in use.
4. Cleaning by Duct Zone (Optional)
If your greenBOX system uses specific duct zones, you can increase cleaning efficiency by enabling the "Cleaning by Duct Zone" option. This allows the system to target individual zones with higher fan suction, improving overall cleaning effectiveness.
5. Cleaning Interval
Set the interval between cleaning sessions. The default setting is 60 minutes (or 3600 seconds), but you can adjust it based on how often your system requires cleaning.
6. Cleaning Duration
Define how long the cleaning cycle should last. Make sure it's long enough for all gates to open and for the fan to run at full speed. Monitor the system during cleaning to determine the optimal cleaning duration.
7. Cleaning Minimum Run Duration
For systems that frequently start and stop, enable this setting to avoid unnecessary cleaning at every stop. Set the minimum runtime needed to trigger a cleaning cycle during shutdown.
8. Adjust Fan Speed for Cleaning (Optional)
Navigate to "01. Fan Settings" and open "Advanced Fan Settings" to adjust the fan speed specifically for Cleaning Mode. Generally, 100% fan speed is recommended to fully clear the ducts, but you can adjust it to suit your specific requirements.
In "Advanced Fan Settings" you can adjust the fan speed specifically for Cleaning Mode and Clean Up (Cleaning at Stop). Typically, 100% fan speed is used.
The System status will show when the Cleaning will begin.
Important Notes on Cleaning Mode
1. Gates Set to "Open Only with Sensor" Gates configured to "Open Only with Sensor" will remain closed during Cleaning or Bypass modes. This means that the associated duct areas will not be cleaned. Make sure to review which gates are set this way to ensure your entire system is adequately cleaned.
2. Fan Speed Adjustments The system adjusts fan speed based on the total airflow required by the open gates. For optimal cleaning, all gates need to be open to achieve 100% fan speed. If some gates are closed (e.g., "Open Only with Sensor" gates), this limits airflow and prevents maximum fan speed. To ensure maximum cleaning power, consider increasing the "Cleaning Fan Speed" in "Advanced Fan Settings" to above 100%.
