Ecogate: A Perfect Fit for NYU Sculpture Shop
About NYU Steinhardt School
The NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development was founded in 1890. The School, based in Greenwich Village, offers programs in applied psychology, art, education, health, media, and music.
Sculpture Shop Equipment
The School's art department features a well-equipped sculpture shop with woodworking and metalworking & welding machines. Machines include a CNC router, panel saw, Sawstop table saw, compound miter saw, vertical and horizontal bandsaws for both metal/woodworking, an air compressor system, and a downdraft table for sanding.
Ecogate Installation
Sculpture Shop Manager Gustabo Velazquez emphasizes the importance of having a modern, well-equipped shop. The school embraced the Ecogate on-demand dust collection revolution and first installed Ecogate in the shop in 2006.

Benefits of Ecogate
Ecogate provides dust collection precisely when and where it is needed, which is ideal for the instructional setting of the Sculpture Shop where machines are used intermittently.
When all machines are powered down, Ecogate automatically turns off the dust collection system, making the entire shop quiet and facilitating easier discussions with students. Ecogate also enhances the system's energy efficiency by using a Variable Frequency Drive to regulate the dust collection fan motor speed, precisely matching machine needs in real-time.
