In a multi-machine woodworking shop a central dust collector is connected by ducts to each machine. Because few machines are operating continuously, gates are installed at each machine.

Operators frequently don't bother to close the gates, resulting in substantial loss of dust collecting efficiency and a subsequent health hazard. In fact, in order to comply with environmental work rules, many shops simply install oversized central dust collecting systems so that all gates may be left open and resign themselves to the additional expense of powering the vacuum and the heating or cooling costs as the air in the shop is continuously pumped outside. All these problems are addressed by the ECOGATE System.

What you will need

  1. motorized gates for each machine (EG204 - 4", EG205 - 5", or EG206 - 6", EG207 - 7", or EG208 - 8")
  2. greenBOX controller (for up to 8 workstations, EG101)
  3. Power relay only in case your dust collector is bigger than 1 HP (@ 115V) or bigger than 2 HP (@230V), EG400 (1 or 3-phase, up to 15 HP).
  4. Toroidal sensor (in case you have some workstations that do not vibrate - the standard sensor reads machinery vibrations), EG312.

The simplest way to get started is to order the ECOGATE Set EG001 (includes the EG101 greenBOX controller, four 4" gates EG204, four vibration sensors EG306, one wired remote switch, four low voltage cables between the controller and gates and a step-by-step User And Installation Guide).

How does the ECOGATE ® System work?

  1. After a machine is turned on, the sensor sends a signal to the greenBOX® control unit.
  2. The greenBOX control unit opens the proper gate and turns on the dust collector. The system is also equipped with a manual switch for each machine to allow the use of hand held tools not connected to a sensor (each gate can be opened and closed by pressing the corresponding button on the greenBOX® front panel; also one remote wired switch is provided - to operate gate #8, for example for the floor sweep).
  3. When machines are turned off, the greenBOX® closes the corresponding gates.
  4. When all machines are switched off, the greenBOX® switches the dust collector off.

What our customers have to say:

"We will need to have a dust collection system installed. We never operate more than 25% of equipment - I have a concern about unnecessary consumption of electricity in driving a big motor that is never being used to its capacity. In other words, I want to design a system that will work in my shop and not take me bankrupt in the process." - Greg Gloor, The Loft Bed House

"I congratulate you on your ingenious product and look forward to receiving it. I am excited about utilizing it on our CNC router." - Neil Grover, Grover Pro Percussion
