About Ecogate, Inc.
Our success story in industrial ventilation, which is our field of expertise, is that we have achieved 66% average energy savings on all our installed projects. The savings are so high over current technology that our biggest trouble is to explain it to our prospective customers. It sounds simply too good to be true. However, several independent companies, such as Focus on Energy, Sauder Woodworking, and others have verified our results (and Ecogate system is based on "fan/affinity law" that supports such savings). Our progressive technology was awarded the prestigious Sequoia Award (given by the Association of Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers to organizations that demonstrate environmental innovation and leadership in energy conservation) in 2001, California Governor's Environmental and Economic Leadership Recognition Award in 2002, and Energy Star Award and Energy User's Efficient Building Award in 2003. In 2006, Great Lake Wood company, MI, received a grant from the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Improvement Program from the USDA (US Department of Agriculture) for Ecogate System installations.
What exactly does industrial ventilation mean? It is used in all manufacturing processes where dust, fume, or mist is produced and has to be removed, such as car manufacturing, woodworking, metalworking, printing , food processing, chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, and other industries. Contrary to current technology running ventilation continuously, our on-demand systems are active only selectively if the dust/fume/mist producing workstations of the manufacturing process are active.
As explained above, industrial ventilation is used in almost all industries and accounts for up to 25% of their total electricity consumption. Contemplating the hypothetical situation that most industrial ventilation systems in USA would be upgraded to on-demand systems, the saving of 26 billion kWh annually with pollution offset of 66 billion lbs. of CO2 gases could be achieved.
California is the first state that imposes a cap on all greenhouse gas emissions, including those from industrial plants-Ecogate System will be one of the useful tools that will allow reduction of greenhouse emissions (fan motors used in ventilation are large, savings are as high as 70%).
There is no comparable technology on the market, and the system is patented (U. S. Pat. 6,012,199 and U.S. Pat. 7,146,677 "Energy Saving Vacuum System for Particle, Mist, and Fume Collection"; Chinese patent ZL 99 811 970.7; other patents pending).
What is the ECOGATE ® System?
Energy Efficient System - upgrade of existing industrial ventilation systems, used everywhere where fume/mist/dust is produced (from automobile manufacturing to metalworking, woodworking and pharmaceutical factories)
Systems developed by Ecogate® include electronic gates, sensors, and a control system; energy savings up to 70% (when upgrading existing installations) and up to 80% (on new system designs) have been measured by third parties (Focus on Energy); Return on investment is typically 0.5-1 year in states with high electricity cost if the company is running three shifts and 1-2 years if the company is running two shifts
The system is patented; no comparable system is on the market
Current installations mainly in the woodworking industry (expansion to other industries is highly advisable); 20,000 electronic gates installed in about 2,000 small and medium-sized control systems, more than 100 large systems installed
